Exceptional Sound Insulation Testing Achieved. Following the completion of the show units at Hambledon Court, Maidstone, Kent for Crest Nicholson South East Limited an independent sound test was carried out on the separating walls. The developer Crest Nicholson engaged Analytical + Environmental Services to do the testing on site on the 6th April 2005.

The picture shows the party wall construction of 2 skins of 100mm Celcon Standard blocks laid with a Thin Joint using Celfix - thin layer mortar. The results recorded were exceptional as an average sound insulation of 55dB D nT,w + C tr was achieved which easily exceeded the requirements of the current building regulation where a minimum pass performance of 45dB is required. (These test results were also better than that necessary to achieve approval as a robust detail)
