Townley House, Ramsgate
MFS were appointed in early 2021 to work on a new-build project in Chatham Street, Ramsgate. Situated at the rear of the Townley House renovation, a prominent Grade II Listed building designed by Mary Townley, one of the UK’s 1st female architects, and built c.1792 in an early regency style. MFS are delivering the structural envelope of nine sympathetically designed mews houses and four flats over three blocks of 3&4 storeys, utilising the MFS i-Form Solution® as part of the overall development.

Project Details
We’re very excited to be bringing our MFS i-Form Solution® to a project of this architectural and historical importance. Designed by Mary Townley around 1792 as the family home for the Townleys and their eight children, it was surrounded by extensive grounds containing pleasure gardens, graperies, an ice house and a well. The Townleys were a highly influential couple and held balls and social gatherings attended by the gentry and nobility of the era, including a visit from the Duchess of Kent and a young Princess Victoria in the 1820s.
Using our experience and expertise in intelligent value engineering, we have developed innovative, cost effective solutions that meet the growing environmental demands of today’s housing industry and offer best value in the long term. The combination of ‘platforms’ includes Xella Ytong thin joint blocks, PCC Hollowcore floors & staircases and other standardised construction components, that are precision engineered in factory conditions offsite.
