Norman Leslie Hinckes MCIOB

Norman founded Masonry Frame Systems with Robert Pointer in 2004. Now with over 30 years experience in the construction industry; it is Normans’ leadership, passion and vision that sets the pace and direction for Masonry Frame Systems including Business Development, Tendering and Conceptual Design.

Norman started out as an Indentured Management Trainee with Wiltshiers’ in 1978. He progressed to become the Chief Estimator before joining Denne Construction as General Manager and then a Main Board Director of the Group in Canterbury.

Qualifications:
Norman is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and a scholar of the Leadership Trust.

Robert James Pointer FRICS

Robert is a member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and founded Masonry Frame Systems with fellow Director Norman Hinckes in 2004. He achieved his Chartered Status in 1990 and was awarded his RICS Fellowship in June 2020.

His career in construction started in 1984, as a Trainee Surveyor at the Canterbury branch of Wiltshier Construction, after a 13 year period rising through the ranks to General Manager of the Special Works department, in 1997, he joined the Denne Group as Managing Surveyor.

At MFS Rob was directly responsible for the procurement of labour, plant, materials and subcontractors, as well as Health and Safety matters and the day to day running of the site activities.

From 2021 Rob continues to work with MFS as a Commercial Management Consultant.

Thomas Hinckes BSc (Hons)

Tom worked as a Management Trainee with MFS for a year whilst studying the first year of a HND in Construction.

Tom’s role included a vast mix of tasks found in every day contracting, from estimating and surveying to invaluable site operative experience including the use of a crane to install roof trusses, structural steelwork etc. Office duties also involved he MFS marketing.

Tom left MFS having completed a year, in order to expand his industry experience and is now back full term having completed his level 6 NVQ BTEC in the Built Environment.

Jason joined MFS in early 2021 as a Chartered Construction Manager with over 36 years’ experience within the construction industry with the likes of Mace, United Living and Willmott Dixon.

His strong leadership skills coupled with his wealth of experience will be an invaluable asset to MFS as we grow and expand post Covid-19.

Will Curran
Will CurranApprentice

Will finished his Level 3 National diploma in ‘Construction & the Built Environment’ with 2 Distinctions and a Merit in August 2020 and joins MFS as an apprentice. He is currently learning the ropes in estimating and design with Tom and aims to be hands-on on-site early 2021.

Will’s  two-year course covered Construction Management, Architecture and Surveying in depth. He also completed 350 hours of work experience in each academic year. We are looking forward to mentoring Will and developing his skills and confidence, helping him fulfil his aspirations in construction.

“When I was at college, I knew I wanted to develop my education in construction. I found MFS on LinkedIn. Looking at their website really interested me, I sent over my Curriculum Vitae and was lucky enough to be selected for the apprenticeship. Eventually, I want to become a chartered construction manager. I don’t know what I want to do specifically yet, so I am currently having a few years studying different job roles to find which suits me best. I am starting a level 4 course in Construction Management soon, so I want to gradually work my way up from there.”

Onsite & Associate Teams

On each and every project, MFS provides an experienced and professional project team, including personnel with the appropriate skill sets to complement the project and to deliver our i-Form Solution™ to achieve the desired construction programme to the highest standards.

Structural Engineering

Should this service be required, our structural engineering partners are Crofton Consulting.

Experienced on-site teams are key

MFS retains a number of experienced thin joint block work installers and carpenters, as well as bricklayers, labourers, material handler drivers and other associated tradesmen. All have worked for us for a number of years and are well versed in our system approach. Specialist subcontractors are employed to erect and maintain scaffolding, manufacture and install structural steelwork, and to design, manufacture and install all re-cast concrete floor systems. A dedicated working supervisor then manages each team.

All our labourers and supervisors are CSCS/plant operator qualified.

As part of our business philosophy, we recognise and acknowledge the importance of our supply chain and the contribution our on-site erection teams make to the delivery of each project and the long-term success of our business.
