A 39 unit Ra House development was awarded to MFS by Wates Living Space. The project was a mixed Affordable Housing Scheme, comprising 11 houses and 28 flats all to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. MFS was responsible for the whole envelope from the over-site slab and included all external face brickwork and internal load bearing block walls, intermediate Engineered timber and PCC plank floors and the roof construction.

Rå Build Thin-Jointed cavity wall using H+H Celcon Jumbo Bloks for the interior leaf. The exterior leaf a mixture of Jumbo Bloks and face brickwork, with render and hardy plank clad finish for the facades. Over 10,000m2 of aircrete laid in wall and floor construction.
The Pre-cast concrete floors and stairs were also be installed by MFS.
Three blocks were built consisting of a mix of two, three and four storey 2/3-bedroom affordable houses and flats to Code Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The external cavity walls are constructed with a Thin-Jointed aircrete inner leaf and either brick, render or cladding to the outer-leaf, topped with a pitched, tiled roof.
The ground floor is a beam and block system with H+H aircrete infill blocks. The upper floors are PCC plank to flats and engineered timber joists by BCI to houses.
MFS were involved from the design and planning stage to the delivery of the complete structural envelop for these apartments. Our Design Warranty was supplied.
We are an H+H Recommended Rå Build Contractor and long standing user of H+H aircrete products. On this project you could not use much more aircrete if you tried. We used aircrete for the entire inner skin of the development. We specialise in Rå Build and know how easy and fast it is to get an aircrete shell built from dpc.
The choice of the H+H Celcon Thin Joint Aircrete block work system throughout the build was one of the key Design decisions in our solution to achieve Level 3 of the Code; and with the build contract undertaken by Masonry Frame Systems, it proved to be a wise decision.
By working together with Isover, we consistently were able to show how effective an aircrete wall can be at reducing the passage of sound between dwellings, in fact being the first to come up with such an answer using this material.
